NEKE OKA RENAISSANCE

NEKE OKA RENAISSANCE

This project will define the age long strength of Neke people with regard to IGWE BU IKE ( unity is strength). We shall know whether the Neke we have today is still the same proactive Neke our forebears bequeathed to us.

The success or otherwise of this project will speak volumes of the acclaimed Neke people's survival instinct which Neke was known for. It will affirm or place doubt on the popular saying, Neke oka.

Undoubtedly, Neke is badly in need of a functional health facility having been denied one for so long. No Neke person will deny this fact as it has become a common knowledge that we are the only community in Isi-Uzo today without a functional health facility. It is not hidden in any way because the negative effects on the well-being of our people are not farfetched.

Neke used to be respected and feared in the old Isi-Uzo when our fathers held sway and achieved so many community developments. Neke Girls now known as CSS Neke was built by our fathers through community efforts. The two major churches in Neke today, St Stephen's Anglican Church and St Patrick's Catholic Church were all built by community efforts through their respective members.

Neke never lacked unity of purpose and I believe it will not start in our own time. Yes it will not start now as we have the capacity to keep the candle burning. To buttress this, it will interest us to know that the relative security and peace we're enjoying in Neke today are functions of our unity and sincerity of purpose laced in our firm believe in the principle of IGWE BU IKE.

While contributing to the success of this project, I want us to acknowledge the fact that we're bound by our common destiny as Neke people. The health care facility even if it does not benefit us directly, will benefit our family members in one way or the other.

I therefore respectfully make a passionate appeal to all of us to contribute our individual quotas towards realising this tall dream. Posterity will forever remember us for heeding this clarion call of community development.

God bless Neke
